SYNOPSIS
Love and admiration take center stage in this intimate program of second string quartets by Borodin and Mendelssohn.
Borodin’s Second String Quartet was written as a tender gift for his wife on their 25th wedding anniversary, its richly lyrical melodies overflowing with warmth and devotion. Radiating youthful passion, Mendelssohn’s Second String Quartet, composed when he was just 18, was deeply influenced by Beethoven’s late quartets and inspired by his own ardent love.
