LIN JUAN, Cello

Chamber music and education feature most prominently in Juan’s multi-faceted journey as a musician.

Alongside Juan’s work as cellist of the Concordia Quartet, he has performed extensively with celebrated Singaporean and international musicians. More recently he has delved into the world of early music performance with Red Dot Baroque, Singapore’s premier period ensemble. Juan is also much sought-after as an orchestral musician as regular freelance cellist with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra- he also performs as principal cellist with re:Sound, Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra, Wayfarer Sinfonietta, and The Philharmonic Orchestra.

Juan’s impact as an educator is just as far-reaching. He is currently Lecturer at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, with focuses on cello, orchestral, and string studies. He was Associate Conductor of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra, a post he held until 2021, and continues to cultivate music-loving youths at Raffles Institution (secondary and junior college) and Hwa Chong Institution (junior college) as conductor of its string ensembles. As Resident Conductor of The Philharmonic Orchestra he works with amateurs and professionals alike, bringing the love of orchestral music to Singapore’s vibrant scene.

A graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music with Bachelor and Master degrees in cello performance, Juan also holds a Specialist Diploma from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.

Juan performs on a Felice Costa Mori 1825 cello, on loan from the Rin Collection.
