Call for Soloists – Prodigious II
Following the success of re:Sound’s concert with four highly-talented, young violinists in the Prodigious in March 2024, invitations are welcome for soloists to apply for Prodigious II, which will be on 4th May, 2025 at the Victoria Concert Hall.
We are inviting applications for the following soloists to join us next May:
· Soloists: violin and viola – Mozart Sinfonia Concertante
· Soloists: two violins, one cello – baroque concerto grosso (Vivaldi, Gemiani, Corelli or Locatelli)
Selected soloists will perform at a public concert, without conductor, with re:Sound chamber orchestra.
We are hoping for a diverse set of soloists, representing the best of young musical talent in Singapore, in the age range of 10 to 15 years.
Application Process
Applications will be made via an online application form, which will be available mid-Oct 2024.
The closing date for applications will be 15 November, 2024.
Selection of Soloists
· The initial shortlist of applicants will be based on the applicant’s biographical information, recommendations from teachers, orchestra coach, conductor, etc. Videos and recordings will be helpful, but not mandatory. Musicians who have not performed with Resound Collective in the past 18 months will be given priority in the selection. Interviews with shortlisted candidates may be conducted.
· Soloists will be selected based on their demonstrated ability, the match with the repertoire, and readiness to perform in public at this level.
· Selection will be made by the artistic and orchestra leadership of Resound Collective and its musicians. The selection process will be carried out impartially, without favour or prejudice to gender, age (as long as within the range prescribed), background or status. Musical fit will be the key criterion for selection.
· The organisers reserve the right to select or reject any candidates at their sole discretion.
Availability to Rehearse
Rehearsals for the concert are expected to be scheduled between 30 April – 4 May 2025.
Rehearsals will be timed to minimise disruption to school, and will typically be held in the evening (between 7pm – 9pm). The occasional afternoon rehearsal may be expected.
