A stellar cast of chamber musicians from CMAS and Resound Collective celebrate the 200th anniversary of the composition of the great chamber music work by Franz Schubert, the monumental Octet in F major, D. 803.

Specially for young ones who are just starting out, don’t miss this morning of fun and learning with our engaging animateur and internationally-acclaimed classical chamber musicians at our upcoming set of interactive Concerts for Children.

Modelled after Beethoven’s Septet and commissioned by the amateur clarinetist Count Ferdinand Troyer ~ discover the array of string and wind instruments one can find in Schubert’s grandiose six-movement Octet together with the internationally-acclaimed musicians of CMAS.

Schubert Octet in F major D 803
(with friends from Resound Collective) 

1824 is a celebration by Chamber Music and Arts Singapore (CMAS) of the 200th anniversary of this monumental year for chamber music and the cornerstone works written by Schubert in this year.

This historically-significant project features the internationally-acclaimed chamber musicians of CMAS:

  • Florent Héau, french solo clarinetist
  • Julianne Lee, violist of Grammy-nominated Dover Quartet
  • Eckart Runge, founding cellist of Artemis Quartet
  • Tang Tee Khoon, concert violinist and founder of CMAS
  • Yang Shuxiang, Singaporean concert violinist

with friends of CMAS from Resound Collective and Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music:

  • Wang Xu, double bass
  • Alan Kartik, horn
  • Lim Tee Heong, bassoon
  • Ning An, piano
